Charlie Faulks - Project Planning

My Concept

My loose animation concept follows the comedic antics of a surf life saving patrol team made up of legendary water creatures like Godzilla, The Loch Ness Monster and Michael Phelps.

The plot for this episode is a new team member is introduced and his first order of business is to help remove a potential threat from the beach.

The idea to base my project around lifeguards comes from my time being one over the summers. I thought just to feature generic humans could cause the final result to become bland so to make it more fun and weird I substituted humans for creatures of the deep.

Conventions of Animation

- Voice Over

Because the characters are drawn, using voice overs is a great way to put life into the animation. Voice overs push the story forward by giving characters various personalities and helping the audience understand who they are.

- Sound Effects

Very much like voice overs, sound effects is a convention that adds to the overall feeling of the final animation. Sound effects make the world that the characters live in more real. It can also add to the comedy or tone of the finished result.

- Locations

Locations in animation can provide backstory or character details without saying a single world. And a great thing about animation is they can take place in any world in any time and in any place. Location is a convention that contributes to portraying the overall feel of the final film or episode.

- Parody

Parody is a convention that makes people laugh. It normally goes after things that people are aware of like important events in history or famous scenes in past media. Much like satire it presents a new spin omen things and can also make people think, but normally it is used in a humorous form in animation.

- Characters

Every animated feature ever has had at least one character. Characters push the story forward and give the audience something to relate to. Each character is very unique and contributes something different in the setting they are in. Characters are very important
